BTEC Shorts

BTEC Shorts are online lessons designed to teach biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes in brief, bite-size chunks. They can serve as quick, easy entry points into specific topics or serve as refreshers for industry professionals.

Each BTEC Short stands alone while also retaining a specific place in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process. These processes are defined by learning pathways within the BTEC Shorts framework.

Digital badges, which users can display in their social media and email signatures, are conferred upon completion of each BTEC Short. Completing a module – a series of related lessons – earns an additional badge. Modules are organized into three pathways: Upstream, Downstream, and Analytical. Completing a pathway earns a digital certificate, which users may print.

Subscriptions to BTEC Shorts provide access to the complete BTEC Short library and are available in three-month, six-month, and annual packages.

BTEC Shorts have been developed by faculty, professionals, partners, and researchers at NC State University's Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Upstream Pathway

Shorts in the upstream pathway include product development and production.

Downstream Pathway

Shorts in the downstream pathway include harvest, purification, and formulation and fill.

Analytical Pathway

Shorts in the analytical pathway include analyzation methods for both upstream and downstream processes.
